Overview
What MixPro Analyzer is, who it's for, and why it exists.
The Problem
Studio One's session view is powerful — but it doesn't answer questions like: What's my actual gain staging across all tracks? Where exactly is that sidechain coming from? Why does this bus sound weird?
MixPro Analyzer reads your .song file directly and surfaces information that would otherwise require hours of clicking through channels one by one.
What It Does
- Extracts all tracks, buses, FX channels, and routing from any Studio One session
- Maps the complete signal flow from every input to the master bus
- Detects all sidechain connections automatically
- Calculates 4-point gain staging across every channel
- Tracks automation lanes (volume, pan, mute, plugin parameters)
- Generates 7 interactive HTML visualizations
- Exports JSON, CSV, and plain text reports
What It Doesn't Do
- Does not modify your Studio One projects — read-only
- Does not require Studio One to be running
- Does not analyze audio waveforms or frequencies
- Does not connect to Studio One in real-time
- Does not require an internet connection
- Does not send any data to external servers
Who It's For

Visualizers
Seven interactive HTML visualizers, each focused on a different view of your session.
1. MixPro Hub Start Here
The central launcher. Load your session JSON once and navigate to any visualizer from a single dashboard. Shows session metadata, track/plugin counts, and lets you select your reference level before opening any visualizer.
- Session statistics at a glance (tracks, plugins, sidechains, automation)
- Reference level selector: −18 dBFS (K-20), −14 dBFS (Modern), −12 dBFS (Loud/Aggressive)
- One-click launch to all 6 visualizers
2. River Flow Flagship
Animated particle flow visualization of your entire session routing — tracks through buses to master — organized in lanes by destination. The most visual and shareable output MixPro produces.
- Animated particles flow at 60 FPS through the signal chain
- River height scales with gain level
- Lane organization: Tracks → Buses → FX → Master
- Hover over any 🔗 icon to see sidechain routing light up across the session
- Toggle sends, sidechains, and animation independently
- Automation indicators (🎚️ mixer, 🎛️ plugin) displayed inline
3. Mix DNA Analysis
Gain staging intelligence. Surfaces clipping risks, headroom scores, and automation flags that aren't visible in Studio One's native interface.
- Per-track gain staging score with thresholds
- Clipping and headroom warnings (0 dBFS = clip, −6 dB = upper safe, −18 dB = analog ref)
- Automation expansion per track
- Session health overview
4. Track List Analysis
Sortable data table. Every track, plugin, gain value, and flag in one searchable view.
- Sort by name, type, gain, plugin count, any column
- Filter by track type (Audio, Instrument, Bus, FX)
- Search by name or plugin
- Export filtered results as CSV
5. Horizontal Signal Flow
Traditional left-to-right routing diagram. Scan all channels side by side, plugin chains inline.
- Wide horizontal layout — all tracks in one view
- Plugin chain per channel with bypass indication
- Color-coded by track type
- Gain visualization at each stage
6. Signal Flow Analyzer
Vertical plugin chain per track. Full parameter readout for native PreSonus plugins with cumulative gain staging breakdown.
- Complete plugin parameter display for stock plugins
- Gain staging per stage with cumulative totals
- Send and routing visualization
- Sidechain source/destination mapping
7. Mixer Diagnostics
Technical deep-dive. Raw session stats, routing anomalies, plugin extraction details, and gain staging audit.
- Full session statistics
- Plugin extraction tiers (native JSON, raw parameters, display only)
- Routing and sidechain audit
- Gain staging warnings with recommended fixes
Gain Staging
How MixPro tracks signal level across your entire session.
The 4 Pressure Points
Studio One has four places where gain changes happen in a channel. MixPro tracks all of them.
| # | Stage | Location | What It Captures |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Trim (InputFX) | Before plugins | Pre-plugin level adjustment — the first gain stage |
| 2 | Fader | Channel volume | Channel volume position and headroom from unity (0 dB) |
| 3 | Plugin Gain | In-chain | MixTool gain, compressor makeup, EQ broadband adjustments |
| 4 | Send Levels | Auxiliary routing | Pre/post-fader send amounts to FX channels |
Reference Levels
| Level | Standard | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| −18 dBFS | K-20 / Analog 0 VU | Conservative — maximum headroom, broadcast, classical |
| −14 dBFS | Modern | Contemporary mixing standard — most popular music |
| −12 dBFS | Loud / Aggressive | High-energy genres, when loudness is intentional |
Gain Thresholds
| Level | Status | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
0 dBFS | Clipping | Digital clipping — only at the output stage |
−6 dB | Hot | Upper safe limit — use with intention |
−12 dB | Ideal | Ideal average track level |
−18 dB | Reference | Analog reference — 0 VU |
< −24 dB | Quiet | Too quiet — may need level adjustment |
Export Formats
Four output formats for every workflow.

FAQ
Common questions about MixPro Analyzer.
Does MixPro modify my Studio One sessions?
No. MixPro is strictly read-only. It opens .song files as ZIP archives, reads the XML, and closes them. It never writes to or modifies your project files in any way.
Do I need Studio One open to use MixPro?
No. MixPro works directly with the .song file on disk. Studio One does not need to be running, or even installed.
Why does my first launch require right-click → Open?
macOS Gatekeeper requires this for apps not distributed through the Mac App Store. Right-clicking and choosing Open is a one-time step. After that, the app launches normally.
Why don't I see parameters for my UAD / FabFilter plugins?
Third-party plugins store their parameters in vendor-specific formats. Full extraction requires official partnerships with manufacturers. MixPro always detects plugin presence and bypass state — we're actively pursuing parameter extraction partnerships.
The analysis took longer than expected — is that normal?
Analysis time scales with session complexity. A 300-track session with full parameter extraction can take 1–2 minutes. Use Gain tracking instead of All for faster results on large sessions.
Can I share the HTML visualizers with clients?
Yes. Every HTML file is fully self-contained. Send the file (or the JSON + HTML together) to anyone — they can open it in any browser with no software required.
Does MixPro work with Studio One 8 (Fender Studio Pro)?
Yes. MixPro v1.0.5-beta handles Studio One 8's updated XML structure including Connection routing elements, UID-based references, and .vstpreset plugin storage.
